Paul Sartori's Bio
Paul Sartori was born in Syracuse, NY in 1958 and moved to Elmira with his family in 1967. He attended Elmira public schools through his graduation from high school and then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College. He briefly returned to Elmira for two years to work at Chemung Canal Trust Company and then entered law school in the fall of 1982. Paul received his law degree from Boston University School of Law and then returned to Elmira to practice in 1985.
Paul received his experience in the general practice of law while working for the law firms of Denton, Keyser, LaBrecque & Moore and Personius, Prechtl, Mattison & Palmer. He opened his own office in 1987 and again in 1992 where he focused on criminal and civil litigation and general corporate practice. From 1988 -1997, Paul was the contract attorney handling criminal conflict cases for Chemung County where he gained extensive experience in criminal defense practice including handling over 45 felony jury trials and countless misdemeanor and violation matters in all of the superior and local criminal courts of the county. Paul is currently the Director of the Chemung County Law Guardian Office where he has served the needs of children and families in Chemung County since 1997. He is a well respected practitioner in the area of family law and teaches law guardians around the state as a member of the Third Department Law Guardian training faculty.
Paul has been very active in his community and has served six years on the Board of Education for the Elmira City School District and four years as President of the EOP Board of Directors. He continues to serve on the Literacy Volunteers Advisory Board and the Compeer Advisory Board which serves the needs of developmentally disabled adults. Paul has also served on statewide committees including the Parenting Education Advisory Board and the Committee on Children and Law. Paul remains committed to serving his community through civic involvement. He is also committed to his family and his church where he is studying to become a permanent deacon for the diocese of Rochester, New York.
Paul is running for Elmira City Court Judge because he is very committed to justice and the rule of law. Having lived in this community for over forty years, Paul is committed to improving the quality of life by investing in the needs of people. Paul wants to insure that the neighborhoods of Elmira remain inviting and safe and he is dedicated to bringing to the bench and to the residents of Elmira his sense of service, fairness and justice in the handling of cases.
