Paul Sartori was born in Syracuse, NY in 1958 and moved to Elmira with his family in 1967.  He attended Elmira public schools through his graduation from high school and then went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College.  He briefly returned to Elmira for two years to work at Chemung Canal Trust Company and then entered law school in the fall of 1982.

Responsibilities of the City Court Judge:

• Hears misdemeanor and violation level offenses
• Hears preliminary hearings on felony offenses
• Hears code violations and animal control issues
• Hears small claims
• Presides over Problem Solving Courts (e.g. drug court)
• Conducts jury and nonjury trials for both criminal and civil cases
• Is accessible for arraignments and search warrants
• Establishes appropriate systems for the efficient operation of the Court
